Cheese For the Needy Feeds Thousands of Families for the Holidays

Sorrento Cheese to Donate Six Tons of Cheese to St. Paul of the Cross and Feeding South Florida

Jupiter, FL (OCTOBER 25, 2011) – The 9th Annual Feast of Little Italy is proud to announce a total of six tons of Sorrento Cheese to be donated and delivered by refrigerated truck to Feeding South Florida (formerly the Daily Bread Food Bank). The cheese will make its way from Buffalo, NY to Feeding South Florida located at 426 Claremore Drive in West Palm Beach. Delivery is scheduled for Tuesday, November 1st, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.

The donation is part of Sorrento’s long standing involvement with the Feast of Little Italy to be held at Jupiter’s Abacoa Town Center on November 4 – 6th, 2011. All types of Sorrento brand cheese will be donated including: fresh mozzarella, parmesan wheels and string cheese. A portion of the cheese products will be distributed by St. Paul of The Cross in North Palm Beach. “I believe the real gift is in giving not only during the Holidays but every day,” explains Mike Marino of St. Paul of the Cross Church. St. Paul of The Cross will feed approximately 1,000 families in neighboring communities with their portion of the cheese. “We plan to package the cheese with a $20.00 gift card and a bag of non-perishable groceries. Then families can use the gift card to purchase a turkey and complete their Thanksgiving dinners,” Marino, continues.

The remaining 5 tons of cheese will be distributed by the organization Feeding South Florida. They actually receive all the cheese at their loading dock for immediate refrigeration. Then they too will begin to distribute the cheese to all of Palm Beach County and even portions of Dade County.

“We are so grateful to Sorrento Cheese for their ongoing commitment to our community and those in need” says Jerry Somma, President of the Feast of Little Italy.

Also taking place at the Feast of Little Italy on Sunday, November 6th at 1:00 p.m. on the Bank Atlantic Main Stage will be the Celebrity Sorrento Cheese Building for Charity. The highest stack of cheese wins.

The Feast is Proud to have Little Smiles as their Official Charity. You can stop by the Little Smiles Kids Zone and have some fun and learn about an amazing organization. Little Smiles is a local organization that provides immediate and hands on support to children in local hospitals, hospice centers and shelters. The Little Smile Board of Directors is comprised of all volunteers. Little Smiles works side by side with local nurses, child life staff, and medical personnel who determine the immediate needs for each child and family. Little Smiles views the staff who treats the children - - not only as partners - - but as the 'angels' who know the kids, the parents and each special circumstance. Little Smiles also interacts directly with the children. Buying a game for a child is wonderful, but playing the game with that child is priceless.

Little Smiles is another charity supported by the Feast this year along with the newly added Little Smiles Kids Zone to help raise money to support the local organization. Little Smiles is a Non- Profit 501©(3) volunteer organization that provides toys, games, DVD’s, computers, VIP outings and meet and greets, concerts, sporting event tickets, theme park tickets and much, much more for children in local hospitals, hospices and shelters.
